Former Polk County volleyball standout Reagan Waddell is returning to the court.

Waddell has earned a spot on Liberty University’s beach volleyball squad. The sport is currently a club sport at Liberty, though the university has given some consideration to making it an official sport. Liberty recently joined the Atlantic Sun Conference, which does offer beach volleyball as an official sport.

The university held tryouts for the sport in September, though its season does not begin until the spring.

COKER VOLLEYBALL: Senior Kara Overholt continues to be one of the top defenders in the South Atlantic Conference.

Through 15 games, Overholt has recorded 237 digs for the Cobras, ranking 10th in the SAC. Overholt is also 10th in digs per set with 4.39.

Overholt has appeared in 54 sets, adding 63 assists.

EMORY & HENRY WOMEN’S SOCCER: Junior Ashley Love has appeared in eight games, making six starts, for the Wasps.

Love has taken five shots in those appearances for Emory & Henry, which has started the season 0-9-1.

SOUTHEASTERN LOUISIANA SOCCER: Junior Caroline Lee has appeared in five games this season for the Lions.

Lee has played 86 minutes, primarily as a defender. She recorded an assist in the Lions’ 3-0 win over Southern in late August.

METHODIST FOOTBALL: Senior tackle D.J. Twitty and the Monarchs offense set a school record with 469 yards rushing in Saturday’s 48-34 win over Huntingdon.

The Monarchs earned their first win of the season.

A season after earning a spot on USA South’s All Conference second team, Twitty has started all three Methodist games this season.

MARYVILLE FOOTBALL: Freshman Devin Panchyshyn saw his first action of the season in the Scots’ 29-3 win Saturday at Brevard College.

Panchyshyn is playing on the offensive line for Maryville.

SALEM CROSS COUNTRY: Jessica Bailey finished as Salem’s top runner in Saturday’s Maryville College Invitational meet.

Bailey placed 19th overall, completing the couyrse in a time of 27:13.

Bailey also led the Spirits in their first meet of the season, the Chick-fil-A Invitational in Salisbury, where she placed 21st out of 91 runners with a time of 23:15.4.

UNC GREENSBORO CROSS COUNTRY: India Godlock took part in her first race of the season Saturday, competing in the Louisville Sports Commission XC Classic in Louisville, Ky.

Godlock finished the course in 19:35.2.

“It was a solid effort from our top two up front,” said UNCG head coach Chad Pearson. “[Kaitlyn] Stone moved up throughout the race very well. It was good to see India Godlock back on the line, and we’re looking forward to seeing her progress after her first race of the season.”
