Grayson Jones scored in the second half Tuesday to help Polk County earn a 2-2 tie with Smoky Mountain in a nonconference boys soccer match in Sylva.

The Wolverines (4-6-1) trailed 2-1 at the half and still faced that deficit when Matias Akers moved through the Smoky Mountain defense and sent a pass to the right flank, where Jones awaited. Some 14 yards out, Jones fired a shot into the upper left corner of the goal to even the match.

“Very consistent and we kept possession of the ball,” said Polk County head coach Josh Trejo. “We did very well.”
