Potter wins Shelby Invitational; Overholt leads Wolverine girls

Polk County senior Caleb Potter outdistanced the field Tuesday to win the Shelby Invitational cross country meet in Shelby.
Potter covered the 5K course in 16:32.60, finishing 16 seconds ahead of R-S Central’s Christopher Upton. Polk County’s Mark Teague finished 20th as the Wolverines placed fourth in the 10-team field.
Polk County freshman Olivia Overholt placed fifth in the girls race with a time of 20:41.00 to lead the Wolverines. Senior Izzy Jackson placed 25th and Tatytem Johnson finished 27th for the Polk girls, who finished third in an 11-team field.
Both Polk County squads are scheduled to next be in action on Saturday, weather permitting, at the Freedom Invitational.
