Apple Valley hands Polk Middle first loss of season

Apple Valley relied on strong serving and play at the net to hand Polk County Middle a 2-0 loss Tuesday in Blue Ridge Conference volleyball action at Polk Middle.
The Wolverines dropped to 2-1 with the 25-14, 25-21 loss. Polk Middle is back in action on Wednesday, traveling to Hendersonville Middle.
The Polk fifth quarter team earned a 25-23 victory.
After Apple Valley rolled to a first-set win, the second set remained close throughout. Apple Valley snapped a 20-20 tie with three straight points, surrendered one point to Polk before closing out the match with back-to-back points.
