Training to better protect the public

On Saturday, an extrication training day was held at the Landrum Rescue and EMS base. The Montgomery family donated a Volkswagen Beetle that was used during this training. The training was one of many the Landrum rescue crew participates in to better its patient care and to prepare it for when its help is needed. The group was started 50 years ago by a group of volunteers. The squad consists of a group of emergency first responders, EMT basics and paramedics who operate on a volunteer level in the Landrum community, as well provides back up to the surrounding area, including parts of Spartanburg, Greenville and Polk counties. For information, people may contact the unit at landrumrescueems@gmail.com. (Submitted by Virginia Plyler)
