TFAC is going Over the Top with a week of performances, art exhibits, lectures and more for the entire community to enjoy from Sept. 4-8.

Over the Top will feature a nightly performance from top local artists, with morning lectures, exhibits and student events throughout the week. Tickets for individual events and a week-long pass are available now, with proceeds helping TFAC’s Capital Campaign reach its goal.

On Tuesday, Sept. 4, Over the Top kicks off with a classical performance from Blue Ridge String Quartet and pianist Kymric Mahnke. Local choirs from half a dozen churches will perform gospel, classical  and contemporary choral works, arranged by Dr. Mark Schwiezer on Wednesday evening, Sept. 5.

Thursday, Sept. 6, will have bluegrass from Pacolet Junior Appalachian Musicians, a musical number from the Tryon Summer Youth Theater performers and a staged reading from local actors. Local performers the Jim Peterman Band take the stage on Friday, Sept. 7.

The week wraps up on Saturday, Sept. 8, with Tryon’s stars performing Showtunes and Standards, a collection of showstopping hits.

Additional details on each performance, plus free daytime entertainment, can be found at tryonarts.org.

Tryon Fine Arts Center’s Capital Campaign is in full swing, raising funds to improve the flexibility, accessibility and efficiency of TFAC’s facilities. Thanks to the  support of people in the community, TFAC’s Capital Campaign is already 75 percent of the way toward the initial goal of $1.5 million in contributions and pledges.
