Richard Preston McAbee, 80, of Mill Spring, passed away Sunday morning, Aug. 12, 2018.

A native of Polk County, he was the son of the late Hicks Pinckney McAbee and Alcie O’Sullivan McAbee. Mr. McAbee retired from Stoncutter Mills.

After retirement, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding horses.

Surviving are three brothers, Edward McAbee, Bud McAbee and Bobby McAbee, all of Mill Spring; two sisters, Rachel Wilson of Mill Spring and Libby Bailey of Albemarle. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 18, 2018, at Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, with the Rev. Hubert Street and the Rev. Keith Russell officiating.

The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Saturday at the church.
