Polk County Board Of Commissioners’ public hearings and regular meeting

The following is the agenda for the Monday meeting of the Polk County Board of Commissioners. The meeting will take place at 7 p.m. at the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, Womack Building, Columbus.

1. Call to Order of the Public Hearing on the Proposed Transportation Passenger Fare Increase. – Chairman Johnson. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive citizen input on the Polk County Transportation Department fare increase. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #19. Joshua Kennedy, Consolidated Human Services Agency (CHSA) Director will be present.

4. Adjournment – Motion to adjourn the public hearing.

5. Call to Order of the Public Hearing on the Addition of Two Roads to the Golf Cart Ordinance – Chairman Johnson. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive citizen input on the possibility of including SR 1326-Pea Ridge Rd. and SR 1332-Moore Rd. into the Polk County Golf Cart Ordinance. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #20.

E) Appointment of Commissioner Gasperson as the NCACC Annual Conference Voting Delegate. Page 11.

16. Charters of Freedom Presentation – Vance Patterson, President and Founder of Foundation Forward will present the information. Consensus to move forward.

17. Polk County’s Youth Voice Delegate – Ariel Ballard, Polk County’s NCACC Youth Voice delegate will be present.

18. Polk County Transportation System Safety Plan – Joshua Kennedy, Consolidated Human Services Agency (CHSA) Director will present the plan. Motion to approve. Copy available to view on county website or in County Manager’s office.

19. Polk County Transportation Department Fare Increase – Joshua Kennedy, CHSA Director will be present. If approved the fee increase will become effective September 1, 2018.  Motion to approve. Page 17.

20. Golf Cart Ordinance Road Addition – Request to add SR 1332 Moore Road, and SR 1326 Pea Ridge Road to the Golf Cart Ordinance, Attorney Berg will present. Motion to approve.

21. World Equestrian Games Update – Bobby Arledge, Emergency Management Director/Fire Marshal will present the information.

22. Acceptance of North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Grant to Polk County for the World Equestrian Games and Associated Budget Amendment – Sandra Hughes Finance Director will present the information. Motion to approve. Pages 18-19.

23. Volunteer Boards for Vote – Adult Care & Nursing Home Advisory Committee 1 applicant, 5 vacancies; Agricultural Advisory Board 1 applicant 2 openings; Animal Cruelty Investigators 8 applicants, 9 vacancies; Appearance Commission 2 applicants, 3 vacancies; Board of Adjustment (regular member) 2 applications, 2 vacancies; Polk County Planning Board (regular member) 1 applicant; 2 vacancies; and Tryon Planning Board 1 applicant, 1 vacancy.   Motion to approve.
