Thanks for doing more with less

Oftentimes, we get so excited about an accomplishment that we forget that it took a great number of people to make it happen.

At the last Tryon Town Council meeting, we were notified that we had achieved a 51 percent fund balance for the fiscal year 2016/17. While we were lauding ourselves for what a great accomplishment it was, we forgot to say “thank you” to the people who actually made it happen.

I am writing to rectify that oversight.

Every employee of the town of Tryon had a hand in making this happen. Each department head worked with his or her staff to ensure we could save any monies possible for the fiscal year.

Some positions were left unfilled; there was less overtime; and vehicles were transferred from one department to another. We also found past line items that could be reduced or eliminated.

So, to the citizens of Tryon, I say please say “thank you” to all of our employees. They are the ones who had to find a way to do more with less.

Alan Peoples,

Mayor, town of Tryo
