Residents question DAQ, PSNC over compression station

About 70 Polk County residents attended a public hearing Wednesday and expressed concerns over a natural gas compression station currently under construction off Silver Creek Road in Mill Spring. PSNC has applied for an air quality permit, with the North Carolina Department of Environment Quality’s Division of Air Quality and PSNC officials there to answer questions. Some concerns raised by residents included the compressor station being located in close proximity of Polk County Middle School, noise concerns and if officials had an emergency plan for the facility. The public comment period ends Thursday at the end of the business day. Emails can be sent to publiccomments@ncdenr.gov by typing “PSNC Silver Creek Road New Compressor Application” in the subject line. See more details on the meeting in Friday’s edition of the Bulletin.
