Saluda Library to host special Cat Café Tuesday
Published 8:00 am Saturday, May 19, 2018
People may join the Saluda Library on Tuesday, May 22, for a chance to enjoy some warm tea and cuddly cats.
Cat cafés have been popular in Asia for years, but are just now making their way to the U.S., opening recently in Greenville and Charlotte. For those who do not want to drive that far to mingle with cats while enjoying a warm beverage, Polk County Public Libraries staff is transforming the top floor of Saluda Library into a cat café for an afternoon.
Guests can enjoy tea, lemonade and cookies while mingling with adoptable cats from Foothills Humane Society. Georgiana’s Java Joint will also serve coffee during the event at a “pay what you wish” rate; all proceeds will go to FHS.
The first half of the program (3-4 p.m.) is for adults only (ages 18 and older) so as to not tire out the kitties too quickly. All ages are welcome to join from 4-5 p.m.
Polk County Public Libraries has two libraries, Columbus Library and Saluda Library, as well as outreach services. PCPL offers books, movies, music, audiobooks and downloadable eBooks and audiobooks, as well as public computers and wireless internet access. PCPL offers regularly scheduled programs for people of all ages.
