Noted landscape artist visits PCHS horticulture classes

Landscape artist Mark Byington, of Tryon, recently shared a presentation on landscape design with the horticulture landscape/horticulture landscape honors classes at Polk County High School.

Byington has been practicing landscape architecture since graduating from the University of Georgia in 1983. He became director of the Carolinas office of Innocenti & Webel, a New York-based firm, and served as the project landscape architect for many regional projects including work at Augusta National, numerous Furman University and Wofford College campus improvements, Spartanburg Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Center gardens, the Greenville-Spartanburg Airport, the Milliken Arboretum and Riverplace fountains and Riverwalk in downtown Greenville.

Currently Byington is commissioned on a wide array of projects from residential gardens to interstate beautifications, and is the lead landscape architect for the Hartness Living community in Greenville.
