Wade Morgan, a junior at Westgate Christian School in Spartanburg, has won third place in classical piano at the National Finals of the American Association of Christian Schools Competition.
Morgan is the grandson of Eilene and Perry Morgan, of Tryon, and Karen and Jim Harden, of Spartanburg. He studies piano with Elizabeth Child, of Tryon, and Amye Ranck.
Morgan performed the Balakirev piano transcription of “The Lark” by Russian composer Mikhail Glinka. Morgan, with duet partner Theo Romeiser, also placed third nationally in both classical and sacred duet categories.
AACS holds its annual competitions in all 50 states in a variety of categories including classical and sacred piano. First-place winners from each state can participate in the national finals, which are held each April at Bob Jones University, Greenville South Carolina.
