It was a perfect day for worship Thursday, as more than 30 people assembled outside the Polk County Courthouse in Columbus that afternoon to pray for home and country. The crowd gathered for the celebration of the 67th annual National Day of Prayer, with this year’s theme being “Pray for America.” Several area religious leaders gathered at the steps at the foot of the courthouse, asking visitors to join them as they prayed for the nation’s leaders, law enforcement and America itself.
