Artist Janet Orselli will offer a variety of summer drawing classes at the Isothermal Community College Polk Center this season.
Orselli has designed classes for all skill levels, offering four different course offerings. All classes will be held from 9 a.m. to noon.
Eye to Hand Drawing Workshop
This three-hour workshop is suitable for all levels, and provides exercise to begin to see and draw the hand with an artists’ eye. Three workshop dates are available: May 4, June 27 and July 26.
Beginning Drawing
In this six-week drawing class, held Wednesdays starting May 16, Orselli will assist students of all levels with understanding and mastering techniques related to contour and gesture drawing, composition, negative/positive space, proportion, cross-contour, value and the creation of depth.
Intermediate Drawing
Good for students who have completed her Beginning Drawing class (or intermediate students with the equivalent experience), Orselli will continue to build on the skills learned in that course in this intermediate six-week course, held Wednesdays starting July 11.
People Drawing People
Orselli will help show off how to draw the human face and more in this six-week drawing series, held Mondays starting June 25. Students will take turns drawing each other, learning more about the shape of human faces in the process.
Orselli received her master’s degree of fine arts in studio art from Clemson University, and has been awarded a Pollock-Krasner Foundation grant and three regional artist project grants. She has taught at University of South Carolina, Converse College, Spartanburg Community College and currently teaches drawing classes at Isothermal and Blue Ridge Community College.
