‘Be the nice person,’ topic of April bulletin boards

Steps to HOPE’s April bulletin boards located in Landrum and Polk County Middle Schools and in Polk County High School encourage students and faculty to “be the nice person” despite the fact that they may think others have advantages in some areas that they do not. A person’s perception is not always exact reality and with a change in the way they look at or think about things and other people, they can make a difference. If everyone could appreciate that we each have our own advantages and disadvantages, and if we all tried to be the better, nicer, kinder person, the world would be a much better place.

Steps to HOPE places bulletin boards in Landrum Middle School, Polk County Middle School, and Polk County High School as a community outreach project each month during the school year. The boards use current, popular, and/or topical subjects to deliver positive and timely messages to students and staff. Steps to HOPE’s contact information is prominently displayed for anyone who might need services provided by Steps to HOPE, the local domestic violence and sexual assault center serving and educating western North Carolina and upstate South Carolina. If you or someone you know is being abused, call 828-894-2340.

This outreach program is supported in part by the Polk County Community Foundation. For more information, call 828-894-2340.
