Cast list for Tryon Little Theater production ‘Almost, Maine’

“Almost, Maine” opens Thursday with a cast of Tryon Little Theater veterans, and some new faces too.

Joel Perkin takes a break from acting to direct his fellow thespians and brings together eight vignettes that tell of falling in love, falling out of love, and discovering love.

• Kip Arrowood is making his second appearance on the TLT stage after portraying Tony in “You Can’t Take It With You.” He’s a regular performer with the Rutherford County Art’s Council, and in this show he’s appearing as Lendall and Dave.

• Doug Denton hails from Brevard and has acted with Brevard Little Theater many times, but this is his first appearance for TLT. He takes on the characters of Jimmy, Steve, Randy and Daniel.

• Donna Everett’s last performance was as Sonia in “Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike.” This time around she becomes Ginette, Sandrine and Hope. She teaches English in Polk County.

• This is Katie Gundle’s first production for TLT, and she brings to life the characters of Rhonda and Gayle. She is been acting since she was a toddler, her most recent shows being “Mad Forest” and “Aida.”

• Lori Lee recently finished filming an independent movie, and has been part of several travelling troupes and choirs performing across the country and overseas.

• Jack and Helen McConnell—married in real life—are also married in the play, but they’re known as Phil and Marci. Helen has acted and taken on many duties for Hendersonville Community Theater, including production, box office and is currently managing director. Jack has appeared in many shows in both Hendersonville Community Theater and Brevard Little Theater, culminating in his role as Norman Thayer in “On Golden Pond.” This is the McConnells’ first TLT production.

• Finally, there is Guy Winker. Winkler is taking on the roles of Pete, East, and Chad. The Doc from Spindale Family Practice says he is enjoying being in a non-musical for a change. He was last seen in “Kiss Me Kate” and “Drowsy Chaperone.”

The opening night reception for the show it at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

“Almost, Maine,” written by John Cariani, is Tryon Little Theater’s last show of a the season. Dates are April 26-29 and May 3-6 at the TLT Workshop, 516 S.  Trade St. in Tryon.
