She lived most of her life in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where she was an intensive care unit nurse at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center for 25 years. Over her lifetime, she enjoyed camping and loved her flower garden — in particular, her roses and peonies.

She enjoyed nursing, and for a short period taught college EMT classes. She was fond of the Girl Scouts, and routinely revisited her childhood days and scouting adventures.

A longtime Christian, she enjoyed a lengthy visit to the Holy Land in 2009.

A strong-willed and independent woman, she was proud and caring at the same time.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery, 279 Friendship Church Road, Saluda, NC  28773.

Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to Girl Scouts Carolinas Peaks to Piedmont Council, 8818 W Market St., Colfax, NC 27235.
