Flat Rock artist to present painting workshop at slip April 20

Saluda Living in Place will soon offer a new workshop, “Painting With Watercolors.”

Miriam Hughes, a Flat Rock artist, will present this two-hour program on Friday, April 20, from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Saluda Center on Greenville Street, Saluda. Hughes will provide all needed supplies.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Please email diannearbour@rsnet.org to register or call 828-749-3156. The cost is $10.

Participants will work with three colors and a black pen to create anything from wild-haired chickens to friends and neighbors in loose and colorful style.

In other events, Dr. Lisa Broyles’ program, “Bones, Groans and Moans” offered in March was so well received that SLIP will be scheduling a second program in May. Broyles will provide suggestions and resources for improving bone health, reducing inflammation and improving one’s mood.

Also in May, SLIP will sponsor a tour and wine tasting at the Parker-Binns Winery in Mill Spring.

SLIP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that helps equip older adults in the greater Saluda community to live independent, vibrant, healthy and active lives.

To register for “Painting with Water Colors” with Miriam Hughes or to join our email list, contact DiAnne Arbour at 828-749-3156 or email her at diannearbour@rsnet.org.
