LANDRUM—A Landrum man was killed in a motorcycle crash Thursday afternoon.

Leo Anthony Hawkins, 61, of Jan Street, Landrum, was killed after he crashed into a stopped vehicle hauling a boat.

Hawkins was traveling north on SC-11 when he crashed into the stopped traffic, according to reports.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said his office is working a joint investigation with the South Carolina Highway Patrol regarding the crash.

The highway patrol said Hawkins was ejected from the bike and taken to the hospital.

The driver of the car and two passengers were not injured in the crash.

Clevenger said Hawkins died at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center at 4:21 p.m. from closed head trauma secondary to a motorcycle versus a stopped vehicle with a boat.

“Please keep the family of Mr. Hawkins in your thoughts and prayers during their time of grief,” Clevenger said.
