Ketwitz, Alley spark Wolverines to 6-0 win at Avery
Lauren Ketwitz scored two goals Wednesday to lead Polk County to a 6-0 victory over Avery in a Western Highlands Conference girls soccer match in Newland.
Ketwitz scored the Wolverines’ opening goal in the 10th minute, then added another tally in the 52nd minute as Polk County (4-5, 1-1) picked up its first conference win.
Kendall Hall added a goal in the 25th minute as Polk County took a 2-0 halftime lead.
Baylee Love, Belen Akers and Mireya Roman each scored in the second half, with Akers finishing with two assists and Reese Alley assisting on four goals.
Polk County’s junior varsity hosted Hendersonville on Thursday while the varsity is off until an April 9 trip to Mitchell.
