Polk County Middle School’s Battle of the Books team represented Polk County Schools at the District 8 competition on Tuesday in Sylva.

Battle of the Books matches teams in a competition, where team members are asked questions about books and must correctly respond with the title and author of the book.

District 8 includes Western North Carolina counties from Rutherford to Cherokee.

The PCMS team is coached by school media coordinator Laura Smith and AIG teacher Susie Walker. Team members include Liam Poche, Kristan Reedy, Diana Santibanez, Sophia Fireman, Kaleigh Holcombe, Gracie Edwards, Caroline Taylor and Grace Hagan.
