Wolverine track teams continue winning ways at FCA Relays

Polk County’s track teams enjoyed a successful road outing on March 16, competing in the FCA Relays at T.C. Roberson.

Polk County’s boys placed fourth in the event, with the Wolverine girls finishing in seventh.

Among the standout performances during the event, which consisted largely of relays, included:

• Lauren Ketwitz setting a personal record in the pole vault by clearing 10 feet

• The girls spring medley relay (200-200-400-800 meters) team of Marissa Twitty, Izzy Jackson, Mariah Overholt and Emmie McDowell winning first place

• Luke Sellers capturing first place in the discus with a throw of 112-5.

• The boys sprint medley relay team of Jake Justice, Jared Wolfe, Wyatt Derkach and Jack Derkach also winning first place in a time of 3:52.10, just nipping Asheville

• David Horton clearing 5-8 to take second place in the high jump

• Jake Justice winning the pole vault with a leap of 12-6

The Wolverines were scheduled to be back in action on Saturday.
