Organist to perform at next Holy Cross recital event

Don Michael Dicie, organist, will perform on the Bach’s Lunch Lenten Recital Series at Noon Wednesday at Holy Cross Episcopal Church, Tryon.

The program will include organ works by Dietrich Buxtehude, Samuel Barber, Knut Nystedt, David N. Johnson and Gerald Near.

Dicie served as organist and choir director at the Cathedral of St. Paul, Minnesota, from 1966 to 1972. His boychoir performed with area orchestras, including the American premier performance with the Minneapolis Symphony of Penderecki’s Passion According to St. Luke, at the Cathedral of St. Paul and at Carnegie Hall in New York City.

In the years following his tenure at the cathedral, Dicie served as organist and choir director at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, in Franklin, Tennessee, while also teaching reading and vocal music in Nashville public schools.

Dicie is a well-known composer of choral music, organ works and vocal solos. His compositions are published by Oxford University Press and St. James Music Press.

The Bach’s Lunch Wednesdays at Noon recitals are 30 minutes in length, and are free of charge and open to the public. Holy Cross Episcopal Church is located at 150 Melrose Ave., Tryon.
