Former Polk standouts hit the court for Wolverine reunion game
Basketball standouts from Polk County’s past gathered Saturday in the school gym for the third annual Wolverine Alumni Reunion Game.
Players divided into two squads — Tryon vs. Polk Central — and brought back memories as they once again shot, rebounded and defended on Polk County High School’s court.
Polk Central’s alums rallied from a first-half deficit to earn a 72-65 victory. Earning MVP honors for Tryon’s squad was Alec Philpott, with Autumn Owen hitting several 3-pointers in the game to earn MVP honors for Polk Central.
The real winner? Polk County’s basketball program, with funds raised from Saturday’s fun going to benefit future Wolverines.
