Recently, the Doughboy Statue in downtown Columbus was evaluated for its future preservation.
The effort was a suggestion by the Polk County commissioners, and spearheaded by the Polk County Appearance Commission.
Last week, Kara Warren visited the sculpture, along with Alan Leonard, local military historian, John Vining, and Joe Cooper, chairman of the appearance commission. Warren is a sculpture conservator at the Biltmore Estate, and came at the request of the commission.
In the coming weeks, the Polk County Appearance Commission will present the findings and recommendations of the sculpture conservator to the county commissioners.
