The Roseland Community Center Inc. will host a celebration of Black History Month on Saturday, beginning at 5 pm at the Center, located on Peake Street  in Tryon.

“An Eastside Renaissance” will feature music and poetry and the arts, along with various reflections of life and personalities from Tryon’s Eastside Community. Included on the program will be a presentation on “Eastside Entrepreneurs” by Dr. Joseph Fox; reflections by Mrs. Edith P. Jackson, a member of the last graduating class of Edmund Embury High School; and a presentation by Mr. Jamal Hannon on Hannon General Hauling, which dates back to 1912, and is Tryon’s oldest consistently run business.

The evening will conclude with a hearty reception. The evening’s festivities are free of charge and open to the general public.
