Hospital hosting lecture on balance disorders

Falls and fall-related injuries can seriously affect older adults’ quality of life, but there are many risk factors that can be modified to reduce the chance of falling.
Muscle weakness, gait and balance problems, poor vision, home hazards and some medications can be changed to prevent the pain and debilitation caused by falling.
People are invited to meet St. Luke’s Hospital’s rehab specialists to improve their quality of life by reducing their risk of falling.
A free HealthTalk, “Balance Disorders and Falls,” will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Wednesday in the hospital’s boardroom. The staff will offer a mini-balance screening to guests as well, so reservations are required by calling 894-8419.
St. Luke’s Hospital is located at 101 Hospital Drive, Columbus.
