Polk median age rises to 51 years in 2017

POLK COUNTY-Polk County’s median age rose by six years over the past decade from 46.23 to 51.29, according to the county’s annual audit report.

The audit report for fiscal year 2016-2017 included statistical information about the county, including the county’s median age since 2008.

Polk County’s median age has consistently risen since 2008 except between 2008 and 2009, when the age dropped from 46.23 to 45.22.

The largest increase was between 2011 and 2012, when the median age increased from 47.17 to 49.58.

Polk County’s information on the median age was obtained from the N.C. Office of State Budget Management.
