Help needed to identify the wonders of Polk County

Published 4:07 pm Tuesday, February 6, 2018

The directors of the Polk County Historical Association are asking for help from the community. They are interested in learning what Polk County residents think are the seven most important historic wonders in Polk County. This will be an update to an original list created around 1992.

What are the spaces around the county that are historically important? Is it Alexander’s Ford? the train tracks on the Saluda Grade? or 1859 Polk County Courthouse? What ever is, the Historical Association Directors want to know what is on your mind.

If you have some ideas please email them to Polknchistory@yahoo.com . Your suggestions do not need to be limited to one entry. There are only two criteria, 1) has to be located in Polk County and 2) it needs some historic connection.

The directors hope to have their survey compiled by mid-March. Please don’t wait to share you ideas and suggestions.

Once the list is created the Historical Association will share the identified wonders with the community.
