Editor’s Note: following is the agenda for the Polk County Board of Commissioner’s Monday, Feb. 5 meeting. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.

  1. Approval of Agenda – Agenda items may be added and/or deleted at this time. Motion to approve.

  2. January 8, 2018 and January 22, 2018 public hearing and regular meeting minutes.
  3. Tax Department January refund request – $620.09.
  4. VAYA quarterly fiscal monitoring report.

  1. Isothermal Community College (ICC) Update – Walter Dalton, President ICC

 

  1. Foothills Humane Society (FHS) – Diane Balding, Board Member FHS, will present information on a State Neuter/Spay Program.

 

  1. Recreation Advisory Board Bylaws – To consider approval of the Recreation Advisory Board revised bylaws. Jerry Stensland, Recreation Director, will be present. Motion to approve.

 

  1. Polk County Law Enforcement Facility– Captain Jerry Williams will present quotes

(1) Furniture and (2) Detention supplies for the new facility. Motion to approve.

 

  1. Polk County School Student Art Display – Commissioner Melton requested this item be placed on the agenda. The Board will discuss displaying student’s artwork in the Womack Building. Consensus to explore the idea.
 

 

 

  1. Uniform Addressing and Road Naming Ordinance – County Attorney Berg will provide update.

 

  1. Tourism Development Authority Proposed By-laws and Inter Local Agreement – County Attorney Berg will present the information. Consensus to send to the City of Saluda and the Town of Tryon for their review.

 

  1. Volunteer Boards for Vote – Columbus Fire Tax Commissioner, 3 applications, 3 vacancies; Polk County Planning Board 2 applications, 4 vacancies.

 

  1. Volunteer Boards for Review –Planning Board 4 applications, 2 vacancies.

  2. Closed Session – Motion to go into closed session for the purpose of attorney client privilege.
