In addition to an award-winning career, Shana also devotes a considerable amount of her time to working with students in schools/universities, community centers and summer camps throughout the year as part of her mission to promote arts education programming for students of all ages. She incorporates artist-in-residence, workshops and community outreach opportunities whenever possible, wherever in the world her performances take her, including the Foothills.

In addition to a Main Stage performance on Saturday, February 3 at TFAC, Shana will lead a professional development workshop on incorporating arts into the curriculum for Polk County and SC District One teachers at Stearns Center in Columbus.

Shana is also the latest artist to present an Arts Outreach for Kids (A-OK) concert-a joint initiative of TFAC and Tryon Concert Association-with her educational ChamberSoul Cello & Songs performance. In an all-ages, creative journey that introduces the art of storytelling through song, listeners will witness the ensemble’s musical “conversations” through improvisation. They’ll also learn basic elements of song form as Shana travels through a multi-genre program of jazz, blues, pop, and folk, with highlights that introduce the music of North Carolina. A-OK performances are open to school groups and home schoolers, with a limited supply of seats available for the public.

Shana continues her Tryon, NC debut at TFAC on Saturday, February 3, bringing her wealth of talent and experience to the Main Stage Series. Tickets are still available at tryonarts.org or by calling 828-859-8322.

Shana Tucker is sponsored by the NC Arts Council. The 2017-2018 Main Stage Series sponsor is Parsec Financial.
