Every aspect of our daily lives is touched by agriculture, and agriculture in turn, depends in part on honeybees for pollination. You can do your part to help by becoming a beekeeper and learn more about these fascinating creatures.

The Polk County Beekeeper Association and Growing Rural Opportunities (www.growrural.org) will be offering a beginning beekeeping course for five consecutive Mondays starting Feb. 12 at 6:30 – 8 p.m., held at the Agricultural Center in Mill Spring. There is a fee for the course. Your instructor will be Phil Holbert of Holbert Bee Supply in Saluda. He brings over 30 years of experience in beekeeping to the classes.

One new beekeeper participant with perfect attendance is eligible to win a complete hive of bees. Please call or email Lisa Krolak of the Polk County Beekeepers Association today to register 828-279-9643/lisakrolak@hotmail.com.
