Buffy Ashmore, coordinator of Polk Fit, Fresh, Friendly (PF3), will be the guest speaker at the Jan. 31 meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Tryon. Ashmore will present information on the Hear2Help (H2H) program including 2-1-1 and the Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE).

The H2H program is designed to create a system of relationship-based two-way communication between community members and volunteers or front line workers. It provides information about services available locally but not readily accessible from 2-1-1, and provides community members a vehicle for communicating both gaps in services and barriers to accessing existing services.

Ashmore will also present information on the COPE Simulation. Cost of Poverty Experience (COPE) is a simulation that highlights the true causes, effects and consequences of poverty and creates personal awareness for participants.
