Marcus Brown Prince, IV (Marc), of Tryon, NC, died January 22, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born March 24,1961 in Charlotte, N.C., the son of Reverend Marcus Brown Prince III and Esther Heath Massey Prince. He graduated from Charlotte Latin School and Presbyterian College, where he was a member of the Sigma Nu Fraternity.
Marc had a 20 year career in the textile industry beginning with Milliken in Spartanburg, S.C. He was a sports enthusiast and loved having cookouts with his family and friends. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved spending time with his precious grandson, Mason.
A graveside service to honor his life will be held at the Waxhaw Cemetery in Waxhaw, N.C. on Saturday, January 27 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Hunter Coleman, Marc’s cousin, will officiate.
Marc was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Prince Gouge, in 1996 and his father, Marcus Brown Prince III, in 2003. He is survived by his mother, Esther Massey Prince; his wife of 31 years, Alice Murphy Prince; his daughters Sarah Elizabeth Prince MacKinnon (Nick), Emily Massey Prince Howard (Thomas), Mary Elizabeth Prince; grandson, Mason James MacKinnon; brothers-in-law, Anthony P. Gouge, Ray and Richard Murphy; nieces, Laura and Catherine Gouge, Tricia Drane, and Amanda Murphy; nephews, Lockwood and Tim Murphy; aunts and uncles, Laura and Roy Boyles and Rick and Fefe Booth; cousins Hunter and Brad Davis, Rick Booth Jr., and Elizabeth Booth Bivens.
The family requests that memorials be made to the Elizabeth P. Gouge Physicians Assistant Scholarship Fund at the Medical University of South Carolina, College of Health Professions, 151-A Rutledge Avenue, Charleston, SC 29425-9600.
