Kathy Jewel Jackson Tolliver was surrounded by family and loved ones on January 19, 2018 at Novant Presbyterian Hospital in Charlotte, N.C. when she began her Heavenly ascend to be with the Lord.

Jewel was the daughter of Joan B. Sheppard (Elder Benny Sheppard) of Tryon, N.C. and grand-daughter of the late Jewel Johnson Booker Green of Tryon. Known by Jewel, or simply Mrs. T, her beautiful life was spent with her husband of 35 years, Christopher D. Tolliver of the home; daughters, Venus Jackson-Kennedy (Rodney) of Rock Hill, S.C. and Shalondra Tolliver of Columbia, S.C.; son, Marcus Tolliver of Charlotte, N.C.; and grandchildren, Jaida Jackson, Jasmine Jackson and Brandon Kennedy, all of Rock Hill, S.C. Jewel was preceded in death by her sister, Julia Anne Carey, and brother, Michael Jackson.

The viewing will begin at noon, followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m., on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at her childhood church, Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, 1814 Markham Road, Tryon, NC 28782.

In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in her honor to either: Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, P.O. Box 893, Tryon, NC or  St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Nurturing Ministries, 917 Clanton Road, Charlotte, NC 28217.
