Harry Kenneth (Kenny) Padgett

Harry Kenneth (Kenny) Padgett of Mill Spring, N.C. died on Jan. 20, 2018 following a long illness.

He was born on Dec. 18, 1945 and was the son of Harry E. and Elma W. Padgett. Kenneth was preceded in death by both of his parents, his sister Juanita Elizabeth Padgett and brother Gregory Dale Padgett.

Kenneth was a founding member of Faith Baptist Church in Mill Spring and attended regularly as his health allowed. He was longtime fan of both Polk Central and Polk County High School sports, especially football. He also loved to stand at the mailbox at the Padgett homeplace and wave to the kids on the school buses as they passed by.

He is survived by his brothers, Robert E. Padgett of Alapaha, Ga. and Gerald Ray (Jerry) Padgett of Landrum, S.C. He is also survived by three sisters, Roberta Ann Franks of Chocowinity, N.C., Penelope (Penny) J. Padgett of Mill Spring, and Cleo P. Haley of Inman, S.C. He will also be missed by four nephews, two nieces, several great nieces and nephews and a host of cousins, friends and caregivers.

A visitation will be held from 6-7:30 p.m., Monday evening, Jan. 22, 2018 at the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018 at Faith Baptist Church, Mill Spring, N.C. with Rev. Hubert Street and the Rev. William Kanupp officiating.

Mr. Padgett will lie in state Tuesday from 12-1 p.m. at the church.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
