Columbus woman held under $100k bond for methamphetamine

COLUMBUS – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office recently arrested a Columbus woman for possession of methamphetamine and later charged her for trying to conceal more methamphetamine at the Polk County Jail.

Mandi Raye Metcalf, 34, of 198 East Constance St., Columbus, was arrested and charged with possession with the intent to sell methamphetamine, possessing a controlled substance on jail premises, maintaining a vehicle to keep a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, according to sheriff reports. She is being held under a $100,000 bond.

Capt. Lowell Griffin said on Jan. 11, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office PACE (Polk Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Team along with the sheriff’s office patrol division, conducted an investigation that led to the seizure of methamphetamine. The investigation ended with a traffic stop, where officers found Metcalf in possession of methamphetamine, which was seized at the time of the traffic stop, according to Griffin. Metcalf then attempted to conceal more methamphetamine, which was discovered at the Polk County Jail, Griffin said.

Metcalf also faces charges of trafficking methamphetamine out of Spartanburg County, S.C., Griffin said.
