Fire destroys Tryon home Saturday night

Occupants got out safely

TRYON-A fire Saturday, Jan. 13 destroyed a home in Tryon.

Tryon Fire Department’s Assistant Fire Chief James “Tank” Waters said the call came in 8:08 p.m. for a residential fire at 126 East Livingston Street.

Waters said there were no injuries to either residents or firefighters. The home was occupied, but everyone made it out safely.

The Tryon Fire Department was assisted by fire departments from Columbus, Saluda and Landrum. Polk County EMS provided medical stand by.

Fire departments had to go back to the scene approximately seven times during the night because of the fire kept rekindling.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Polk County Fire Marshal’s Office and the Tryon Police Department.
