Looking for the perfect afterschool enrichment activity for your kids? Enrollment is ongoing for Pacolet Junior Appalachian Musicians (PacJAM) at Tryon Fine Arts Center. Classes start January 17 and run through March 21.

Students ages 6 and 7 can register for ukulele classes and learn the building blocks of music. Ages 8 and up can choose from traditional music instruction in banjo, fiddle, guitar, or mandolin. In addition to expert musical instruction in blue grass and old time styles, students’ appreciation for Appalachian culture is deepened with enrichment classes in dance, ballad singing, folklore, and more.

The 10-week semester ends with a free, community concert for students to show off their skills.
