Giving back the Sunny View Clubhouse way

This year has seen many changes at the Sunny View Clubhouse. In addition to renovations the Clubhouse also expanded its community programs through various events. Founded in 1932, the Sunny View Clubhouse has played an important role in the Sunny View Community for 85 years. The current volunteer board members are committed to continuing this rich tradition by a continuous improvement campaign to fund renovations and updates to the building and grounds as well as hosting events that provide resources and opportunity for community fellowship.
Recent renovations to the building include making the front entrance fully handicapped accessible, expanded parking area, installation of new energy efficient windows and kitchen appliances, addition of community flower garden, and general building repairs. Future goals include replacing the current exterior siding to give the Clubhouse a more rustic appearance and additional exterior landscaping projects.
Throughout 2017 the Clubhouse hosted a range of events – from recurring staples such as the Community Breakfast, Halloween – Treats at the Clubhouse, Veteran’s Appreciation Breakfast, Thanksgiving Feast, and Annual Christmas House event to recently added Diaper Giveaways and Food Pantry events. The Clubhouse partners with the Tryon Seventh-day Adventist Church and their Brethren Bread program as well as Thermal Belt Outreach to provide free food pantry items every fourth Tuesday of the month. Beginning in 2018, The Clubhouse will offer free dinner during each Food Pantry event held in January – March. The Clubhouse has also been the recipient of various grants from the Polk County Community Foundation which enables the expansion of the Annual Christmas House event each year.
