Resolve to recycle in the New Year!

Published 3:38 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2018

Polk County Mobile Recycling collects from one to one and a half tons of recycled materials on a typical morning between 7 a.m. and 12 p.m. in Tryon (Harmon Field, Monday), Saluda (Ozone Dr., Tuesday), Green Creek (Fire Station on alternate Wednesdays) and Columbus (downtown, Thursday). Recyclables are also collected at the transfer station on Rte. 9 every day including Saturday (8 a.m. – 4 p.m.).

Folks could help our recycling program by crushing their large plastic containers like milk jugs, kitty litter containers and large detergent containers. We sometimes run out of room for all the recyclables that are brought to us.

Batteries and light bulbs are also accepted. Computers, printers, fax machines, monitors etc. must now be taken to the landfill. They will not be accepted on the truck. There is a charge of $10 per item to recycle electronics at the landfill.

A big thank you to all our recyclers who are working hard to make our new system work. We stand ready to deposit recyclables into the bins if you are unable to do so. We appreciate all you folks who recycle; without you our trash will bury us.
