TRYON-The Town of Tryon swore in its newly elected officers following the November election.

Tryon Town Council met Tuesday, Dec. 19 and held a swearing in ceremony for Mayor Alan Peoples and commissioners Bill Crowell and Chrelle Booker. Commissioner Bill Ingham, who will also be the mayor pro-tem, was absent because of a family member’s surgery and will be sworn in later.

The town chose to do the swearing in a bit differently, with all members being sworn in at the same time. They were sworn in by town clerk Susan Bell.

Incumbent mayor Peoples won the election this year over challenger Jerry Thomas.

Ingham was this year’s high voter-getter, with Bill Crowell also winning a seat over Helen Ringus.

Booker won a third, two-year seat, to replace former commissioner Roy Miller, who resigned in June. Booker won over John Fowler and will be up for re-election in 2019.

The town treated attendees to a holiday reception with food and drink following the meeting.
