Ann Smith Camp, 84, of Columbus, N.C. passed away, Monday evening, December 18, 2017 at St. Luke’s Hospital, Columbus, N.C.

Born in Marion County, S.C., she was the daughter of the late Elliott D. Smith and Mary Patterson Smith. Mrs. Camp moved to Columbus 42 years ago. She was a member of the V.F.W. Post #9116 Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and Polk Home Extension Agency. Throughout the years, she became the family genealogist. Mrs. Camp attended Lynn First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Cathy Butler; four brothers, Bernis, Millard, J.P. and Donald; five sisters, Mary, Pat, Colleen, Louise and Nell.

Surviving is her husband of 46 years, Scott Camp; two sons, E. Johnny Butler (Sabrina) of Timmonsville, S.C. and Elliott “Bud” Butler of Columbus, N.C.; one daughter, Joyce Preston (David) of Tryon, N.C.; two brothers, Jack Smith (Laura) of Lancaster, S.C. and Earl Floyd (Ruby) of Florence, S.C.; one sister, Lib Smith of Lexington, N.C.; five grandchildren, Lee Butler, Stephanie Brunk, Angie Bennett (Rob), John Butler and Scott Preston (Ashley); five great-grandchildren, Haley, Sean, Alex, David Scott and J.R.; six step-grandchildren, Will Bryce, Kevin Tanner, Bobby Tanner, David Preston (Kim), Lisa Clark (Rick) and Jim Preston (Carmen); one step-great-grandchild, Mila. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, Dec. 22, 2017 from 1 – 1:45 p.m. in the McFarland Funeral Chapel.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, December 22, 2017 in the McFarland Funeral Chapel, Tryon, N.C. with Dr. Jesse T. Yarbrough officiating.

Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens, Columbus, N.C.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 120 Executive Park Building 1, Asheville, NC 28801.
