Library plans annual Christmas party Saturday

The tree is trimmed, halls are decked, and the spirit is jolly at Lanier Library in anticipation of the return of Sidney Claus.

“When the party started last year, he was suddenly there ho-ho-ho-ing in the stacks,” recalls Tim Boyce, board president. “It was the first ever visit from Sidney Claus in our entire history since 1890. Now, you better watch out, he’s coming back to the 2017 Members’ Christmas Party on December 9. Once again, he’ll be checking his list, once, twice, and again…who’s naughty or nice.”

Pat Gass, board membership chairperson, explains, “It’s a members’ party on Saturday from 4 to 6, but non-members are welcomed any other time throughout the holidays to see the decorations, browse the books and art collection, and feel the warmth of Christmas past and present.” With a chuckle, she adds, “Christmas future at Lanier is included with every membership.”

Lanier Library is located at 72 Chestnut Street, Tryon. Call 828-859-9535 or visit lanierlibrary.org for more information.
