Polk County Board of Commissioner Nov. 20 agenda

Editor’s Note: following is the agenda for three public hearings and the regular meeting for the Polk County Board of Commissioners on Monday, Nov. 20. The public hearings begin at 6:30 p.m. with the regular meeting beginning after. The meeting will be held in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.

 

  1. Call to Order of the Public Hearing on the Proposed Amendment to the Polk County Zoning Map, Rezoning of Residential Estate 1 (RE-1) Use District; Certain Area as Multiple Use District – Chairman Melton. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the Polk County Zoning Ordinance map amendment, a request from a citizen of P46-56, P46-57, P46-101, and P47-262 to be rezoned from Residential Estate 1 (RE-1) to Multiple Use (MU). The Planning Board recommended a portion of P46-56 and P46-57 (approximately 2.5 acres) be rezoned to Multiple Use. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #23.

  5. Call to Order of the Public Hearing on the Proposed Amendment to the Polk County Wireless Telecommunication Ordinance – Chairman Melton. The purpose of the public hearing is to receive public comment on the Polk County Wireless Telecommunication Ordinance amendment due to recent case law requiring suggested changes. The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #24.

The public hearing was properly advertised in the Tryon Daily Bulletin. The information is included in the agenda packet under Agenda Item #25.

  1. Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) Phone System Contract – Bruce Yelton, MIS Director will present the contract and explain the system. Motion to approve.

  1. Resolution Declaring Surplus Real Property and Authorizing the Sale by Electronic Public Auction – County Attorney Jana Berg will present the resolution. Motion to approve.
  2. Proposed Amendment to the Polk County Zoning Map, Rezoning of Residential Estate 1 (RE-1) Use District; Certain Area as Multiple Use District – To consider approval of the amendment subsequent to the public hearing. Motion to approve.

 

  1. Wireless Telecommunications Ordinance Amendment – To consider approval of the amendment subsequent to the public hearing. Motion to approve.

 

  1. Sign Ordinance Amendment – To consider approval of the amendment subsequent to the public hearing. Motion to approve.

 

  1. Fire Department Contract Modification – County Attorney Jana Berg will present the information for review.

 

  1. Tourism Development Authority Proposed By-laws and Inter Local Agreement – County Attorney Berg will present the information. Consensus to send to the City of Saluda and the Town of Tryon for their review.

 

  1. Manager’s Report – Paul Luzier, Moseley Architects, will give the PC Law Enforcement Facility construction update.

 

  1. Volunteer Boards for Vote – Tryon Fire Tax Commission – 3 applications, 3 vacancies. Motion to approve.
  2. Volunteer Boards for Review – None.
