Landrum approves maintenance partnership agreement with SCDOT

At their Nov. 14 meeting, the Landrum City Council approved a Maintenance Partnership Agreement with the South Carolina Department of Transportation for the new city easement at 325 E. Rutherford St. in front of the Hay Rack.

The Landrum City Council approved a Freedom of Information Act that sets charges of $16 an hour and a $16 minimum charge for researching information. The council agreed that the police department would follow the same procedures.

Landrum Christmas Parade and stroll dates announced

The Landrum Area Business Association announces the date for the Christmas parade as Dec. 7 at 6 p.m. The stores will be open until 8 p.m. for the Christmas Stroll. Applications for parade entries can be found online at cityoflandrumsc.com/landrum-christmas-parade or picked up at city hall. There is a $10 donation that goes to the Boys and Girls Club.

Saluda approves special use permit for Arts Festival

The Saluda Board of Commissioners approved a special use permit for the Saluda Business Association (SBA) to hold the 2018 Saluda Arts Festival. Next year’s festival is scheduled for May 19 with the SBA agreeing to donate up to $7,000 from the festival revenues as matching funds to go towards new public restrooms downtown.

Saluda considering easement at Maple Street

The Saluda Board of Commissioners is currently considering granting easements to property owner Jake Williams for two driveways at 106 Maple Street. Williams requested the easements and during the city’s Nov. 13 meeting, commissioners directed the city manager and city attorney to research the request and commissioners will consider it during their December meeting.

Saluda receives donation of up to $25,000 for McCreery Park

The City of Saluda announced during its Nov. 13 meeting that Clark Thompson has agreed to match donations for McCreery Park up to $25,000. The city and parks committee is fundraising for improvements to McCreery Park. Anyone who wishes to donate should contact city hall at 828-749-2581.
