“Tails to Rails,” a sculpture by Dale A. Weiler of Weiler Woods for Wildlife, will be installed in the downtown fountain at St. Luke’s Plaza in Tryon on Nov. 22 at 3 p.m. The public is invited to help celebrate the unveiling of the sculpture, a tribute to the town and to Jackie and Bob Lane for their love of Tryon.

The artwork was inspired by a conversation Dale had with Bob several years ago about designing a sculpture for the downtown plaza that would reflect the town’s roots and beautify the plaza. The resulting stone sculpture depicts a section of railroad upon which two mourning doves are perched.

The sculpture unveiling will also be the launch of a public art program in partnership with the Town of Tryon and Tryon Downtown Development Association (TDDA). A economic development strategy for downtown is to continue to enhance Tryon as a vibrant arts community, where visitors and residents are immersed in quality art when they experience downtown. Through this, the goal is to increase opportunities for artists, income for art galleries and attendance at arts events in Tryon.
