Lanier Library Travel Circle to visit WNC Friendship Force
Published 5:34 pm Thursday, November 9, 2017
If you are interested in discovering, discussing and exploring the history, heritage, cultures and distinctive qualities of places in this country and around the globe, the newly-formed Lanier Library Travel Circle may be for you. The group plans another meeting and in an effort to determine its scope and perhaps expand its interest, the Travel Circle will travel to the Western North Carolina Friendship Force program (ffwesternnc.org/) to be held this Sunday, Nov. 12 at 5:30 p.m. at the Mills River Presbyterian Church in Mills River, N.C.
The aim of Friendship Force is to foster peace and understanding throughout the world through travel journeys based on home hosting. Since its founding, Friendship Force has grown to over 350 clubs in more than 60 countries. Friendship Force is not a traditional travel club. Its objective is to build new friendships and promote greater understanding across cultural boundaries and also offers domestic exchanges within the United States.
Anyone interested in the Lanier Library Travel Circle can join the group to carpool to the meeting on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. at the library at the corner of Chestnut Street and Melrose Avenue in Tryon. Please bring a dish (salad, vegetable, main dish, or dessert) to share and bring your own dinnerware so that the group can remain as “green” as possible.
For those unable to attend the Friendship Force event but interested in participating in the Travel Circle, please contact Suzanne Engelmann at engels.sj77@gmail.com
