Editor’s Note: following is the agenda for the Polk County Board of Commissioner meeting on Monday, Nov. 6. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the R. Jay Foster Hall of Justice, located on the second floor of the Womack building in Columbus.

  1. October 16, 2017, public hearings and regular meeting minutes.
  2. Tax Department refunds for October 2017 in the amount of $2,645.11.

Project Bids for Looking Glass Creamery/Harmon Dairy Lane Waterline Extension – Dave Odom of Odom & Associates will present the bids. Motion to approve.

 

Polk County Water System Status Report – Jeff Walker, Inman-Campobello Water District, will present the report.

 

Veteran Services Office Update and Veterans Day Resolution – Veteran Services Officer (VSO) Gina Cashion will present the update and Resolution. Motion to approve.

 

Polk County Opioid & Substance Misuse Forum – Consolidated Human Services Agency (CHSA) Director Joshua Kennedy will present the information.

 

Tryon Tornado Update – Bobby Arledge, Emergency Management Director & Fire Marshal will present the update.

 

Proposed Amendment to the Polk County Zoning Map, Rezoning of Residential Estate 1 (RE-1) Use District; Certain Area as Multiple Use District – Cathy Ruth, Planner, will present the request to schedule a public hearing to take public comment on a proposed amendment to the Polk County zoning map. Motion to approve.

 

Wireless Telecommunications Ordinance Amendment – Cathy Ruth, Planner, will present the request to schedule a public hearing to take public comment on the amendment. Motion to approve.

 

Sign Ordinance Amendment – Cathy Ruth, Planner, will present the request to schedule a public hearing to take public comment on the amendment. Motion to approve.

 

Animal Control Ordinance Amendment – County Attorney Jana Berg will present the revised ordinance for review.

 

Manager’s Report – (1) NCDOT large vehicle signage; (2) Tourism Development Authority

Volunteer Boards for Review – Tryon Fire Tax Commission – 3 applications, 3

vacancies.
